I saw something recently that said "love is the light of your soul" and it seemed just right for Katie and Jason's intimate exchange of vows in the beautiful backyard of their home. Their garden created the perfect romantic setting draped in twinkle lights and hanging candles that flickered in the summer breeze. Katie even made all her own floral arrangements and bouquets - isn't she incredibly talented! I'm in love with the sprig of blackberries in her bouquet - so very northwest! After a short and sweet exchange of vows witnessed by their closest family members and officiated by a good friend, they were joined by as many friends and coworkers as could fit in their home to celebrate the love and joyous union of souls. "Home is wherever I'm with you..." It's always a beautiful experience to capture the union of two people so very much in love!  Love was in the air with new takes on old traditions. This was a such a fun and beautiful wedding with so many sweet details lovingly crafted and personalized. From grandma's wedding dress reworked and made new to the map and globe details and the handmade lavendar bouquets and boutonnieres!  We chose a few images for a sneak peek from this weekend's wedding, but I'm not sure limiting to these does all their hard work justice - I may have to come back and add some more to share as we continue to prepare the images of the day. Let me start by saying this isn't going to work for everybody and most traditional wedding dress styles are going to need professional alterations, but for those of you on a very strict budget and willing to think outside of the box, here's an idea that I hope inspires you. For my destination wedding, I searched for a budget dress that would travel easily. After much searching, I chose my dress from David's Bridal. When it arrived, I loved it, but the straps were much too long and the dress was a little big on top. After realizing that alterations would cost more than the dress, I decided to take matters into my own hands (or should I say my bridesmaids hands). I can't sew to save my life, but luckily I had a no-sew plan. We cut the strings off the dress (you know, those ones that are supposed to help it stay on the hanger) and used one to tie the dress straps into a halter style.  Then took a beautiful cameo brooch and pinned it over the strings. ...
