7 Location Themes for Your Portrait Session | Evidence of Life Photography | Seattle
If this is your first time working with an
on-location professional photographer, it can be difficult to know what to
expect. What should I bring? Will there be enough time to get the perfect
picture? Will we feel comfortable in front of the camera? We
completely understand and are here to work for and with you to make your
session as stress-free as possible.
The location of your photoshoot can be almost anywhere
- from your bedroom to a nearby park or café. We believe one of
the most important factors in choosing a location should be its emotional
value to you. Being in the same spot that something
wonderfully memorable happened in the past can evoke strong emotions and great
moments in front of the lens (think first kiss, a special "I love
you" moment, first date, etc). Nature settings such as parks and
wilderness, can create beautiful backdrops for your photographs. If you prefer
your photoshoot in your home, let's choose a room with big windows and lots of
light to create the most striking images.
When we meet for our consult, we can get to know each other and talk through the location or combination of locations that will be the best fit for you.
Here are some ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

1) WHIMSICAL WOODS
I love wooded locations. We can create a session with fairytale-esque feeling, or perhaps something more bohemian or just typical, outdoorsy PNW-style. So many possibilities! Here are some local ideas:- Lincoln Park, Seattle
- Discovery Park, Seattle
- Washington Arboretum, Seattle
2) THE SIMPLE LIFE
Think leather boots, weathered denim, floral dresses and rustic barns or cabins. Maybe even a pick-up truck. Local ideas:- McAuliffe Park, Kirkland
- Fort Steilacoom Park, Lakewood-Tacoma
- Wildwood Park, Puyallup
3) URBAN LEGEND
Incorporate a famous landmark, city park, back alley, or cafe for urban-chic family portraits. Local Ideas:- Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle
- Pike Place, Seattle
- SODO District, Seattle
- Occidental Park / Pioneer Square, Seattle
- Volunteer Park, Seattle
4) ALL-AMERICAN
Classic photos in a traditional park setting. Imagine swinging on a swing, picnicking on a pretty quilt, holding hands and walking through the grass. Local ideas:- SSCC Arboretum, Seattle
- Golden Gardens, Seattle
- Roxhill Park, Seattle
5) BEACH ROMANCE
Romantic sunset photos on the beach, walking barefoot in the sand, skipping rocks, collecting shells, resting on driftwood. Local ideas:- Alki Beach, Seattle
- Richmond Saltwater Beach Park, Shoreline
- Seahurst Park, Burien
6) THE SUPER HERO
You don't have to be Pheonix Jones - we all have a little bit of hero inside of us. Let's put on our favorite super-hero tees and capes and get some fun photos of our everyday heroes! Local ideas:- Gas Works Park, Seattle
